What are glitter paper red packets
The surface of glitter paper carries tiny sparkling particles. In the joyfold catalog, 11 red packets have glitter paper among their recorded papers, and several of them mix glitter paper with tactile paper and pearlescent paper. Most of these designs use gold line drawings, which together with the sparkling ground give a stronger festive feel.
New Year print-style designs
The horse packet with 福 has a border of fine gold dots around a horse with a patterned body, like a small New Year print. The two-color horse packet is more direct: a square gold New Year print-style illustration in the center, with “福氣” (“good fortune”) written on the horse’s body, surrounded by lanterns, firecrackers and fortune bags. The lion dance New Year packet has a gold lion dance head with a finely detailed mane in the lower half, with fireworks and firecrackers hung with the character “福” above. The New Year horse packet shows a horse rearing and looking back, with rocks, pine branches and layered wave patterns.
Brand designs: line drawings and white space
Glitter paper also suits brand packets. The LASER 40th anniversary packet sets the brand letters vertically on the right, with two clusters of flower line drawings on the left. The fish-pattern brand packet circles two koi facing head to tail. The 欣暖四季 brand packet prints “欣暖” and “四季” in two shades of red on a red ground, with two gold plant line drawings in the middle. The ERDOS packet with “平安喜乐” (“peace and joy”) has half of a gold round floral medallion at the upper right and a vertical greeting in bright red on the left.
Mixing papers: one design as a set
Some designs put glitter paper and other papers in the same series. The floral letter pair is two packets side by side with the same pattern: the left one has a smooth surface and the right one a fine grainy texture, recorded as tactile paper and glitter paper. The CORTIS fan-support packet is also recorded as glitter paper with tactile paper. Using two papers for one design makes a set with contrast.
What to confirm when choosing glitter paper
- Check the sparkle on a real sample: the size and brightness of the particles are hard to judge from photos, so confirm with a paper sample.
- Detail size: the ground itself has grain, so confirm before final artwork whether very thin lines and small text stay clear.
